studio and kilns
Jeff works with a variety of clay bodies to create dinnerware and large vases. Jeff’s pots feel good in the hands and do their job well.
Wood-firing is a passion for Jeff. Pots fired in a wood-kiln possess both spontaneity and liveliness from the flames and ash that passes over them in sometimes unpredictable ways.
Together with local Moose Jaw potters Wendy Parsons, Zach Dietrich, Rob Froese, and Claude Morin a Fred Olsen style fast fire wood-kiln was built at the Parsons Dietrich Pottery.
The kiln was named PUNA, the Cree word for “make fire.” This 30 cubic feet kiln takes about 12 to 16 hours to fire - wood is alternately stoked into two fire boxes approximately every three minutes.
Now living in Ontario, Jeff continues to have the chance to wood-fire with Norm Wheeler in his train kiln near Midland.
